Link between air pollution, increased deaths and increased deaths from heart disease affirmed

Next StepsSome steps that we can take to help prevent these particles from getting into our systems is to wear surgical masks. I have seen people in Japan wearing face masks and it seems like a very good idea considering these particles usually get absorbed by us breathing them in. Another way we can prevent these particles from being emitted into the air is trying to find the source. When we find the source we can inform policymakers about where their coming from and develop regulations to try and contain these particles from getting into the air we breath. This is a very significant article to us considering how recent this article was published. The significance of this is huge considering we used air to breath all day everyday 24/7. It is a very scary to think about every time as im breathing as well as everyone in my family.

SummaryAir pollution has always been a problem for our Earth but now, its becoming a problem for us. Researchers have found that very small particles in the air we breath can cause many dangerous health risks. In an online report on Sept. 15, scientists found that even a small amount of these particles have very high risk. According to health epidemiologist George Thurston, these small particles in the air can contribute to the development of heart and lung diseases. What makes them so dangerous is that since they are so small, they can slip past our body and go deep into our bloodstreams as well as our lungs. Thurston and his team began conducting their research by studying a health and diet survey and ruled out variables impacting health, age, race or ethnicity, as well as level of education. After the experiment, the team came to a conclusion and the author shared what they found and said "...the team did not find any significant difference in the effect of particulate matter exposure between different sexes or age groups or by level of education."
ReflectionOne of the main reasons why this article really appealed to me was because it not only related to the environment but it was also a health issue. My aspirations are to do something in the medical field and this article was perfect for me. Just reading about how these particles can slip through our bodies so easily and do so much damage was very eye opening. It made me very cautious about the air im actually breathing as well as very paranoid when going outside. It was so interesting as well as scary to read about these deadly particles and how they can be so easily absorbed by our bodies. This is something I would be interested in studying because trying to find the source of these particles and putting a stop to them ever affecting people would be an accomplishment that I would be proud to achieve.
