Do Low Doses of BPA Harm People?
Source
ReflectionWhen reading this article, I was very concerned with the fact that 90 percent of people are already exposed to BPA. This to me was the most stand out fact out of anything else that I read when reading this article. This article really related to me and my personal life because, like most other people, I myself use all those products that BPA is found in. The fact that there is a very big chance that BPA is running through my bloodstream right now is very worrying to me. What makes this even worse is reading about all of the health risks that come with having been exposed to BPA. Just knowing that there is a risk of cancer because of something i have in my system just scares me to death. Even though we are only exposed to small amounts of this chemical, even the small chance that this is going to end up risking my health in the long run is very bad. The only real solution to this is to just ban BPA altogether. With this, we dont have to worry in the slightest that we are being exposed to a potentially life threatening chemical that can cause a big amount of diseases.

SummaryWith the large amount of consumer products that we are using, people are asking if bisphenol A (BPA) is harmful to the human body. BPA can be found in polycarbonate plastic, food, beverage can liners, paper receipts, and dental sealants. When looking at BPA, it acts like estrogen, meaning it disrupts hormones as well as altering reproductive systems and brain development. They also set the stage for breast as well as prostate cancer. However, the real question that is being asked is the fact that even though BPA has all of these risks when exposed to someone, there are only a small amount of it within the products we use. Now this is what makes this problem tricky. Scientists have conducted tests on whether small exposure to BPA can be dangerous or not. Even though we are discussing the effects of BPA and whether small exposure is good or not, BPA is extremely ubiquitous, meaning that more than 90 percent of Americans have been tested positive for having BPA into their systems. According to the test results, BPA does not have a significant affect on humans considering that we are only being exposed a little.
